Iridium is the most corrosion-resistant metal on Earth, capable of withstanding temperatures up to 2000°C,
and its alloys possess extremely high hardness. These properties make it a core material for:
1. Industrial catalysis and high-temperature equipment.
The petrochemical industry uses iridium as a catalyst to produce high-octane gasoline,
and the chlor-alkali industry uses it to manufacture electrolysis electrodes.
In crystal growth, iridium crucibles are crucial equipment for producing sapphire crystals needed for LEDs and lasers;
over 95% of the world's large-size sapphire crystals are grown using iridium crucibles.
